Biography
Jonathan began drumming at the age of 10. He got a drum set for Christmas; it seemed to be the constructive solution from a parents perspective to calm their youngest child's unstoppable tapping habit. He began private lessons with the incredible SF based drummer Jimmy Sage. Jimmy Sage opened up an entire world to Jonathan, and soon it became somewhat of a parenting nightmare. "We should have bought him a guitar."

During high school, Jonathan joined his school's chamber choir, sang in a double quartet, studied classical harmony, continued taking lessons with Jimmy Sage and began playing shows in bars with people often times twice as old as him. During his sophomore year, Jonathan attended a one week course during the summer time at Berklee College of Music (in Massachusetts) and saw a clinic performance by Mike Mangini, a rock virtuoso who is best known for his work with Steve Vai. There was no question in his mind about where he wanted to go to college. He followed up this course by attending a 5-week course and then by applying only to Berklee.

Upon arriving at Berklee, Jonathan was surrounded by thousands of incredible musicians. He studied jazz harmony extensively, continued his study of classical harmony and counterpoint, took ear training classes, arranging and composition, and studied with many incredible drummers including Mike Mangini, Sergio Bellotti, Larry Finn, and Jon Hazilla. During this time, Jonathan found his calling as the Pink Drummer.

After two years at Berklee, Jonathan sought other musical opportunities and left. He is currently working with many bands doing shows, recording, touring, teaching, song writing and arranging.

Who Is The Pink Drummer?
